Halloween Cake Pops

When it comes to Halloween party planning, there’s nothing like having the right mix of  Halloween party food. That’s where cake pops come in to play. Although cake pops look  intricate and time-consuming, the basic recipe is surprisingly easy, and from there you can  make your pops as crazy and creative as you want.

To start, you’ll need some cake batter. You can use your favorite cake mix out of the box  or mix up a batch from scratch. Since chocolate cake is always a crowd pleaser, here’s a  delicious recipe from Martha Stewart’s site:

  • Unsalted butter, for cake pan
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Once your cake mix is prepared, it’s time to cook your cake pops. This is most easily done  with a bake pop set. Bake Pops is a package that comes with a bake pops pan, decorating  idea guide, 25 lollipop sticks, 25 ties, and a decorating squeeze bottle to apply fun  edible designs!

The pan has 24 bake-pop molds, and you simply pour in your favorite cake batter, put the  mold into the oven, and…voila! Out comes perfect cake pop halves. You then spear two  together, and you have the start of your cake pop.

You then take your “naked” cake pop and dip it to create a solid outer surface, such as  white chocolate for a ghostly pop. Then, drizzle on some color, or dip while the pop is  still warm into decorations. You can use any edible topping you would on a cupcake –  sprinkles, edible glitter, confetti, you name it! Also, try crumbled cookie bits for an  extra tasty treat.

With a bake pops set you can make exciting cake pops in your very home. You can then serve  these cakes on a stick and decorate them with different kinds of icing and flavors for  tasty treats that will nicely adorn any Halloween table.

Since there are no messy edges or sticky crumbs, cleanup is a breeze. So getting the kids  invovled is not a problem. The ease of use makes bake pops an ideal Halloween Party Food  that’s fun to eat as well.
