Witchy Wizard Cupcakes

witch-cupcakesThese creepy witches take the cake — cupcake, that is.  With candy hair, called grounds, and even warts on their noses, these delicious characters will be gobbled up quickly by little ghosts and goblins.

What you’ll need:
1 (18.25 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 (16 ounce) containers of prepared white frosting
Green food coloring
Garnish: red and black licorice, green apple airheads, tootsie rolls
2 (7 ounce) boxes waffle cones
Edible Lustre Spray and bronze

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°.  Line two, 12-cup muffin pans with liners and set aside.

Prepare cake mix according to package directions, adding vanilla.  Bake according to package directions.  Remove cupcakes from pan and cool on wire racks for one hour.

In a mixing bowl, combine white frosting and desired amount of green food coloring; beat until smooth.  Frost cupcakes, being careful to achieve a smooth surface.

Apply desired decorations.  Cut tootsie rolls into strips for hair and mouth.  Place airheads into the microwave for 10 seconds to make the candy more malleable.  Shape the airheads into a nose.  Use red licorice for eyes and black licorice for eyebrows.

Spray waffle cones with Edible Lustre Spray, if desired.  Carefully invert cone onto top of cupcake.  Serve immediately, or store in airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
