Theme parties make for a fantastic Halloween celebration. Theme based Halloween parties are a great way to create a special ambiance, but require extra planning for you and your guests. So, make sure to give them plenty of advance notice. You also want to let your guests know that “Halloween costumes strongly encouraged”, rather than “costume required” or “costume optional”. This way, your guests will likely dress in costume, but won’t feel embarrassed or unwelcome if they don’t like getting dressed up.

For those who do dress up, consider having a contest, where the best costume gets some sort of prize, or if it’s a kid’s party, set a time where there will be a costume parade (set to fun Halloween music of course) where everyone gets to show off his or her costume to all the parents in attendance.

Turn your house into a haunted home for the night! Start by lining the walk way to the front door with Jack-O-Lanterns. Hang gauze ghosts in the trees. Use white sheets over the inside of your windows and adorn them with silhouettes of ghosts, hanged men and black cats. Throw old white or slightly yellowed sheets over furniture. Create a spooky atmosphere for some wicked fun.

Mummy Masquerade Party

This is a hilarious Halloween party theme where everyone who attends wears a mummy costume. One of the fun things about this party is that if people’s faces are covered, you never know who is who.

Pirates Halloween Party

Arrrgg… With the popularity of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, pirate and wench costumes are in style. Have your guests come dressed as pirates. A few skeletons sitting around with Spanish moss hanging on them, treasure chests full of gold coins and jewels, rope netting, shells, glass float balls, fake fish, anything sea related will make good decorations.
