Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without witch costumes. The great thing about witch costumes is that there are so many fun and easy variations.
To conjure up a classic witch like Broom Hilda or The Wicked Witch of the West, wear a long black dress or skirt and shirt and black boots. For makeup, cover your face with green witch makeup. Add thick black eyeliner around the eyes, black lipstick and a wart or two. Black fingernails, contrasting with gruesome green hands, are a must.
For the hair, try making it stringy with gel or ratting with a brush and hair spray. Then throw in some cobwebs and plastic spiders. You can also opt to buy a witch wig.
To top off the witch costume, you will need to buy or make a pointy black hat that no self-respecting witch is ever without. Add your ride – a straw, wooden-handled broom — and your look will be complete.
Variations:
For a cuter teen witch, wear the same hat a black miniskirt, green and black striped tights and pointy black shoes.
For the good witch, wear a white, pink or pastel dress or skirt, as puffy as possible. Dust yourself with glitter. Carry a glittery magic wand and a basket of flower petals or pixie dust. Top off with a white witch’s hat (or cover a black hat with white duct tape and stars and glitter).
